Website Evaluation
Education is a field that is constantly changing and evolving, and with the emergence and integration of technology in the classroom comes the necessity to teach online reading comprehension to students. Website evaluation is a skill that demands knowledge and research by teachers. If a website is going to be used in a classroom as a resource it must be deemed credible and accurate. The responsibility of checking website credibility lies with the teacher who must research a website before a class session so that students can learn from the site. Checking links, videos, and credibility are a few of the many things
that need to be explored before introducing a website to students. Students will probably be anxious to explore the website and what it has to offer, however if the website has not been properly and thoroughly evaluated by the teacher using a website as a classroom tool could most certainly become a mess.
I have learned a lot of valuable information in today's class session. With the growing popularity of technology in the world of emerging students, it only seems logical to integrate technology into the classroom. Through discovering websites and tools available in the classroom, lessons can be fun and interactive while at the same time stimulating minds by using what students spend a lot of their free time on anyway--the web. I definitely believe that website evaluation is a skill that would be useful in a future classroom to offer something different for students rather than the daily routine of a traditional school environment where the classroom revolves around pencil and paper.
